The Kid is Alright

I'm happy being a little bit peculiar.

Revisiting Hannibal kind of at random.

It’s so pretty

I stopped watching, because I really don’t care about the characters or the plot, but it’s so pretttttyyyyy

Oh God Marcus Bell

I can’t handle the extent of my feelings for you

I have unwittingly stumbled into a rom-com. Spent the morning with the Plaid Cook, walked to the river, got caught in torrential rain.

Luckily, I counter it by saying lots of stupid shit like “My brain? It’s a fucking minefield, buddy” and “If you’re going to be a violent maniac, can you at least be efficient about it? I mean maybe it’s just ‘cause I have a competence kink …”

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN MY LIFE

Oh well. I think I’ll get used to it and it’ll be lovely. At least he knows I write fic, because I decided a few months ago that if someone thinks that’s weird, they won’t like much else about me, either. And he started Doctor Who and is even liking the first 9th Doctor eps. So. You know. Yeah.

Teachers. I love you when you love your kids, and I wish the system wasn’t rigged to make you all hate your jobs.

Wuv ya teachers!

They’re so underappreciated. Yay teachers!

Sweeping legislative changes in the US are making the job even harder, even less about students, and even less rewarding (in any way) for teachers.

Good teachers are leaving the profession in the hundreds of thousands.

Appreciate the ones you have, because the profession is in danger of becoming a McJob (newbies try it out for a few years before moving on to something livable) instead of a career.

And that is exactly what the money behind the changes wants to see leading the class: easily-intimidated, inexperienced people who will not question how and why the public education system is being exploited for private gain.

Sorry to rant. I am just angry and worried beyond belief. Our teachers deserve better. More importantly, our STUDENTS deserve better.

My dad finally retired this week from his terrible community college teaching job, his second profession after a 30 year career as a journalist. Both of his careers have become disrespected, economically compromised, and almost unlivable for a guy with a family. Particularly in Wisconsin.
Money’s gonna be tight for my family for the next few years, but it’s better than him teaching 7 classes a day with no prep time in a department that has nothing to do with the field he trained in.
Phew!

Also my dad retired from his shitty job and I’m so happy! (Even though my parents totally can’t afford it. Better than staying there!)

They keep playing that Family of the Year song and it is such a Scott McCall song I can’t drive to work without drowning in pent-up emotions.

Also I just saw a great, completely absurd play

Teen Wolf would be a lot scarier if it were Teen Rhesus Macaque and they turned into were-monkeys, because rhesus macaques are super aggressive and have a pack-ish structure and are also matriarchal. And carry a strain of herpes that is deadly to humans.

Just saying.

Filed under 24-alpha-24 'cause I saw your post on packs and yeah the weekend of 221bcon I visited my friend at emory who does monkey research and they have a field station for rhesus macaques and there had just been this big overthrow where the beta female and her family killed the alpha female and tried to kill her family and the researchers saved them becauase they aren't actually studying the sociology but they're testing the monkeys' memories and stuff so they have to like retrain all this stuff but I thought it was awesome.

hollydiggity asked: if they are good friends they will be happy for you despite their own feelings - like, dude, do i wish i got to go on dates? sure. does that mean i'm anything less than totally thrilled about yours? nope. just as you will still listen to people who are having bad days, when you are having a good one, so should they. it's the way friends, like, work. so yeah don't ever feel like you shouldn't share your happiness, if someone can't handle it that's an issue on their end, not yours. looooove yooou

YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON

and also a good friend.

This is not news.

And it’s all inside my head anyway, me going “No one cares that you are happy!” just like when you have a bad day and your brain goes “No one cares that you are sad!”

I feel that this is not just a “me” thing, but rather a “people” thing.

braaaaaiiinnnnnns love you too!
